The rallycross world was shocked by the news that the Swedish Hansen brothers, Timmy and Kevin, were not able to participate in the KymiRing World Rallycross Championship. We are happy to announce that the Hansen World RX Team will still participate in the competition this weekend!
With 7 entrants now confirmed in the World RX category, the championship will return to a split grid qualifying format, meaning World RX and Euro RX1cars will qualify within their own respective classes.
Hansen Motorsport Return to the grid with the support of series partner Volvo Construction equipment.
This would have been their first absence from a World RX round since the championship’s inception in 2014. With financial support from series partner Volvo Construction Equipment secured, one final obstacle remained: unanimous approval from the other World RX competitors, as regulations stipulate that any late entry must be ratified by all teams. The grid responded decisively, with KMS, PGRX and CE Dealer Team, putting rivalries aside to unanimously approve Hansen’s return.
What followed was a race against time, as the team undertook a near 1,000km dash from their base in Sweden to the KymiRing. Having arrived this morning, donning an all-new yellow livery, Hansen Motorsport are now ready to thrill Finnish fans at the spectacular new venue.
Four classes full of thrilling racing
The World RX class therefore includes the top seven in the World Championship: Johan Kristoffersson, Niclas Grönholm, Timmy Hansen, Ole Christian Veiby, Juha Rytkönen, Kevin Hansen and Klara Andersson!
The Euro RX1 class of the European Championship will feature Yury Belevskiy, Mika Liimatainen, Damian Litwinowicz, Nils Volland, Martin Enlund, Rene Münnich, Joni Turpeinen, Mikko Ikonen, Anton Seppä, Iivari Niemi, Maiko Tamm and Mats Öhman.
The Euro RX3 class of the European Championship will feature Sámuel Kovács, Libor Teješ, Rytis Gurklys, Nicolas Geleyns, João Ribeiro, André Sousa, Rogerio Sousa and Balázs Körmöczi.
The national 2WD Open class will feature Janne Hjelt, Christian Jensen, Jari Klemettilä, Marko Koli, Raimo Kolppanen, Klaus Kostiainen, Mico Saari and Janne Viitikko.
The competition weekend will be full of great competition starts in four different classes! All classes will have four heats, semi-finals and the finals as the highlight of the weekend.
